Why have a client appreciation party?

Because it's one of the best ways to invest in and interact with the most important resource you will ever have in your real estate career: your client-base. Face-to-face time with your clients isn't easy to come by; their time is limited and so is yours. A client appreciation event provides you the face-time to connect on a deeper level with an attitude of gratitude that your clients will appreciate.

Each of these events can look and feel significantly different, depending on your budget and event goals. Determine how frequently these events make sense for your business-common is one to four times per year. Whether you want to organize a small, intimate event where you and your top clients engage at length, or a large, social event where you encourage your guests to bring friends, relatives and neighbors, you can customize the event to your unique business style and client-base.

A few words on budget.

Regardless of the nature of your event I strongly suggest setting your budget long before you begin planning your event, and taking into consideration your vision and objectives for the event. Give yourself the opportunity to best allocate your resources, and maximize every dollar spent. Regardless of whether you plan to spend a little or a lot, the important part is knowing your goals and budget long before you send a single invitation.

10 Client Parties That Will Be a Hit

l. Nightclub If your client-base is the sort to enjoy a night out on the town, rent out a local bar or nightclub. The key here is choosing off-hours, where you will be bringing the establishment business that they wouldn't otherwise have. Work with your venue of choice to pick a week night, beginning around quittin' time

(when your clients get off work), and ending no later than 8-9pm. The club can open to the general public at that time, and you and your guests can opt to head home or continue the party.

2. Make a Difference - Fundraising Help raise money for a local charity or foundation, or host a fundraising event for a client or local family in need. The cost of this type of event can be offset significantly because most of your vendors and business partnerships will likely be donating toward the cause. Your database will appreciate what you're doing for the community, and enjoy a feel-good opportunity to support their community, as well.

3. Private Wine or Beer Tasting Work with a local brewery or winery to set up special pricing for a private tasting event. This can be done very intimately, or with a significantly sized group. For an extra touch, if the space supports it have a bounce house and/or games set up, and provide childcare for a few hours.

4. Cook-Off Have any clients that LOVE to cook? How about clients that love to EAT good cooking? Set up a cook-off, and to incent participation put a big chunk of your budget into exciting prizes for the the top chefs of the day. It's a fun competition for those who love to cook, and a unique dining experience for the rest.

5. Viewing Party Be a hero when the next major flick coming to town sells out. Rent the theater and offer a private showing for your client-base. This is something the entire family can enjoy.

6. 4th of July No, no, no, I'm not suggesting you take on the liability of putting on a fireworks show. Think: viewing party. Secure a spot that has a fantastic view of your community's local firework show. Imagine a rooftop restaurant, or if you want to get really creative, rent an open field from a willing community member (or former client). They will make a few extra bucks, and you'll have an incredibly unique venue for your clients to view the show!

7. Easter Egg Hunt You'll want to schedule slightly before the actual Easter holiday. You can offer drawings for prizes or put prize slips inside the eggs. The bigger and more exciting the prizes, the more excited kids (and their parents) will be to participate. Bonus: this type of event coincides with the annual pickup in the real estate market, so it may provide some opportunities to put on your trusted real estate adviser cap and answer some business questions. For an added touch you could offer photographs with E.B. (The Easter Bunny) himself!

8. Take 'Em Out to the Ballgame Do you serve a lot of sports fans? Take 'em out to a game! I know we said "ballgame," but don't forget hockey and rodeo or PBR, as well. This can get pricey, so make sure to work with the team or event staff to negotiate a discounted ticket rate. For some additional face-time with your clients, host a social before the game or event to hand out tickets. You can keep it simple by serving just one or two types of refreshments and thank everyone for coming individually as they get their ticket from you.

9. Ice Skating Party Serve an adventurous crowd? Ice skating is a family-friendly way to provide your database an opportunity to try something new and/or different, and create a really memorable experience.

10. Welcome (to my) Home What about a good ol' fashion house party? Nothing can be more intimate than inviting your clients into your home or backyard for a dinner party or BBQ. This event can be as formal or low-key as you'd like, depending on your residence and budget. For a fun and unique twist for a smaller group, try a murder mystery party!
